Our Mission
Established 2012 in Chicago, Illinois by founders Tony and Chanel Cazeau, New Black Renaissance was born from a vision to foster humanities in music; bridging the gap between old and new in an effort to preserve its history, and the cultures responsible for our most cherished sounds. NBR is not your traditional band, but rather an organization helmed by individuals such as the Cazeaus, Isaiah Sharkey, Sharay Reed, Quin Anderson, Andre Henry, Chris McBride, Leon Q. Allen, LeRoyce Hawkins, Adam Brown and propelled by 30+ career musicians on a mission to provide community access to the arts, education, promote longevity, and build legacies for generations to come.
Experience
NBR Chicago
New Black Renaissance has a long history behind them stacked with Grammy awards, Stellar awards, Billboard hits, television appearances and stadium tours supporting some of music’s most influential artists. However, the most important fact may be that each of them knows Chicago as home. A cultural mecca synonymous with the biggest and the best, rich in love and spirit, but equally relentless, cold and utterly unsparing. As a result, the group has entrenched themselves in Chicago’s story, cultivating unique and meaningful experiences in every corner of the city and beyond for over a decade, having held rank in such venues as City Winery, House of Blues, Buddy Guy’s Legends, Kingston Mines, Promontory, Bassment, Underground, Wild Hare; the list goes on.

The Founders
Tony & Chanel Cazeau
Through their endeavor, members of New Black Renaissance, namely founders Chanel and Tony Cazeau, have helped pave the way for many of Chicago’s young artists. Nurturing their talent and sharing the wisdom and guidance needed to navigate the industry at the highest level, while maintaining a deep emphasis on spirituality and leading lives of divine purpose. The organization’s focus under their leadership is stronger than ever as NBR begins a new chapter in their dutiful mission. With efforts in place to fundraise for school music programs, develop mentorship opportunities, provide access to instruments and musical training in underserved communities across the United States, as well as writing and producing a debut record, developing new live experiences and so much more, New Black Renaissance is making their mark where it matters most.
